Benson Feed and Supply has been a part of the Benson community for over six decades, providing trusted service and quality products to generations of families. What started as a small feed and supply store purchased by Bob Fenn in 1961 has grown into a symbol of perseverance and family dedication. Today, Derrick Fenn and his brother, Bob’s grandsons, now lead the business, ensuring that the values instilled by his grandfather and father, Ed, continue.
When Bob Fenn bought the business 64 years ago, he had a vision: to create a reliable neighborhood supply store where locals could count on excellent service and a friendly atmosphere. For 30 years, Bob poured his heart into the business until 1991, when his son, Ed, stepped in to continue the family legacy. Ed carried the torch for another 30 years, navigating challenges and adapting to the community’s evolving needs. In 2021, Derrick and his brother proudly took over the reins, marking the third generation of Fenns dedicated to serving Benson.
Derrick recalls one of the most challenging times in the store’s history—a devastating fire in 2007 that resulted in the total loss of the original buildings. The fire began in the hay barn, quickly spreading to the neighboring store, reducing both to ashes. The Fenn family faced an uncertain future, but the community’s outpouring of support helped them persevere.

“Texas Canyon Rock and Sand stepped in and let my dad use an office space they had available,” Derrick recalled. “That allowed us to continue operating while we worked to rebuild.” “That allowed us to continue operating while we worked to rebuild.” During those difficult three years, Ed set up a canopy and sold whatever inventory he could had, determined to keep the business afloat. His perseverance paid off, and a new building was eventually constructed on the original property—symbolizing the family’s resilience and dedication.

Now, under Derrick and his brother's leadership, Benson Feed and Supply continues to evolve. They are expanding their offerings to meet the needs of the growing equestrian community by increasing their selection of horse supplies. But Derrick’s passion extends beyond business—he is a strong advocate for youth education in livestock care and farming.
Benson Feed and Supply remains a consistent supporter of local events and organizations, including the Benson Butterfield Rodeo and the Cochise County Junior Livestock Association. His grandfather was an avid supporter of the Cochise County Fair, a tradition Derrick now continues. Through donations and community engagement, Derrick ensures that the business continues to play a vital role in supporting the next generation of farmers and ranchers.

For Derrick, carrying on the family tradition is about more than maintaining a business—it’s about preserving a legacy built on trust, service, and community. As he looks ahead, Derrick is determined to ensure that Benson Feed and Supply remains a fixture in Benson for many years to come.
“My dad never gave up, and I won’t either,” Derrick said with pride. “We’re here to serve this community just like my grandfather envisioned. And that’s not changing anytime soon.” With a rich history of resilience and a heart for the community, Benson Feed and Supply strives to show the power of family, hard work, and unwavering dedication.

Derrick remains committed to running the store just like his father and grandfather did—providing superior customer service, helping people load their vehicles, and staying true to the vision his grandfather had for the store. “I want to keep my family’s tradition alive and well for the next 64 years,” Derrick said, reflecting on his commitment to honoring the legacy of Benson Feed and Supply
